Does anyone have any experience working with this outfit? Do they actually have positions available, or do they just collect resumes? Has anyone ever gotten an interview through them? Please post any positive or negative experiences you may have had.

    Raising Capital

Thanks for your reply. Basically, the talks were about them taking an equity stake in my fund and to help develop some sytems-- nothing formal and over drinks. I understand your meaning though about the big boys sucking up all of the capital that used to float around freely. day late, dollar...

    Raising Capital

Please elaborate on BlueCrest. My mates in london have good contact with people at this firm and we were about to open up discussions about the possibility of additional funding. Thx in advance.

    Raising Capital

Ha. I already have another thread on the situation and it has since been resolved. While I knew that 50% was unreasonable, I wanted to see what was usual. No, I am not giving up 50%, but if normal was around 30%, I might have considered giving up some for a larger allocation. Thanks again.

    Raising Capital

Yes, I am starting to understand this more and more. Although I think 50% is too excessive, as this is what I have been presented with in a 'take it or leave it' fashion. Obviously there are mitigating factors which can change this situation, but I am just trying to gauge what is typical...

Meaning the "middleman" would expect 20% of revenues earned by the trader's incentive fees?

    Raising Capital

I realize 2/20 is the most common set-up that I charge as incentive fees to my investors. What I am asking is what is typical for those who place the capital with me? Fund of fund managers, commodity pool operators, and other "middlemen" who match up investors and managers. How (and what do...

If you were a trader looking to start a fund or a CTA business, what percent of your business would you be willing to give up in order to attract significant capital? What is a typical arrangement if you are a capital allocator? Assume that the fundraiser will have nothing to do with the...

Any Ninja Trader Programmers out there?

Thanks for the clarification. I do use the free version of NT with the zen fire feed from my broker, but plan on getting the lifetime license when my fully automated strategies go live. NT is WELL worth the money-- best combo of speed, reliability and user-friendliness out there.

    Career Advice-- dilemma.

Thanks GJ, and to all who contributed to this post. I think that my posting was actually cathartic, and it helped slow me down and think more clearly. When I first posted, I was stilled pissed and maybe not thinking as rationally as I should have been. I came up with 3 choices which seemed...

    Career Advice-- dilemma.

Ok boys and girls, looks like we may be coming to an agreement. Here's what I've got: Rather than setting up the structure as a managed futures fund with co-mingled funds, we are going to operate as a CTA with separate accounts. I am the manager of my funds and receive 100% of my incentive...

Any Ninja Trader Programmers out there?

Actually, you can execute live trades using the free version-- but they don't like to tell you that. No bracket orders.

    Career Advice-- dilemma.

I like your style GJ. Fortunately-- or unfortunately depending on ones own worldview-- my lawyer is a personal friend of mine as well. And he is very aware of my inability to pay his outrageous fees should we lose. There are negotiations going on right now as we speak. I'll keep you all...

Trading US futures at tick level from Europe

Milesy- What systems or account connections do you use to execute your trades? In my experience, esignal consistently lags the real market by a few ticks, particularly when there is a volume spike or significant movement. I use esignal for some of the charting and for historical data and as a...

    Career Advice-- dilemma.

The way I came up with the 250K was that if I sustained the max loss possible (assuming I exit on my stop), and took the maximum amount of signals and trades in all instruments, that the total loss would be 2% per instrument. Were I to do that, that would be a total loss of 8% overall if every...
